Basement Makeover for Families

Sometimes it takes big changes in your life to make big changes in your home. Not until their 1st baby was on the way, did Jason & Elleni Almandrez feel the urgency to fully utilize their large basement. With this impending arrival, they knew the extra space would be greatly needed. Together they hired me to envision the space & give that basement a real makeover!

The Together Area

This vast space needed to serve many purposes. One of them being a place where everyone could be together. Be it just the 3 of them, plus two doggies or all the extended family close by, they wanted a cozy place where could people hang out, watch the game & spend time.

The Play Area

With baby on the way, comes lots of Tummy Time. They needed a space where they could be down on his level. So we took one whole side of the room & dedicated it to the little one. You know, Dana believes in having tons of HIDDEN storage for all of the toys. It was important for the space to support his growth, so adding essentials like a play table was necessary.

The Parent’s Area

Mommy needs a drink & Daddy too!! Even as new parents, you gotta have that ME TIME. So adding a fabulous bar cabinet to the space was a must. I told Elleni we’d figure out how to lock it in 10 years:)

The Storage Area

So you can never have enough storage. From paper towels to diapers & wipes, managing all the overflow was a must. Maximizing a corner nook let us build a wall of closed cabinetry. Functional and lovely was the key to enhancing the design.

The Art Area

Art brings warmth to a room. It's important to strike a balance between meaningful pieces and wall fillers. Mixing both allows for freedom in decorating without fixating on finding the perfect masterpiece.

I’m so glad that Elleni, Jason & Little Landon have a great new basement with room to continue to grow & add gaming tables over the years.
