Creating Organized Toys In Play Area

Dana is all about Beauty & Functionality. So almost before any designing happens, we have to organize the home. One areas that many struggle with is toys! Creating system of organization that address this is crucial!

Give Toys A Home!

If you have KIDS, you have TOYS. My goal is not to let them take over or define your space. Instead give them a home, a distinct place to be. This is what we did for my client Robin Strickland’s then 5 year old son. Coming out of Covid, he needed a space on the main floor to play & be with the family.

I love what how we created a play zone for him out of an awkward corner. The faux window seats with built in storage for all of his things, was a great solution. And more importantly we gave him a space that will grow with him past Pokemon & crayons. Plus we gave a little extra seating for mom & dad

THE PROCESS: Lay it all out!

Dana’s Top Tips For Organizing Toys:

  1. You gotta lay it all out. See what you are working with.

  2. You gotta love a clear bin . All from the same manufacture, in different sizes.

  3. You gotta love a labeler. So you know where it goes & so do the kiddos!!

We are all overwhelmed by toys. The Eden family was no exception. The fact that toys come in all different sizes, shapes & lengths makes it hard to figure out how to best store them. I have found that keeping them in the manufactured containers make it hard to organize. It is better to get them in clear, bin all from the same company, so they will stack & nest neatly together. Store like toy items together (ie; Hot Wheels, Barbie, Legos) & give it a label. After play, they will know where it goes back & so will you!!
