Well y'all it's finally here. I've been hinting for awhile that we would be making changes to the store. So l now say goodbye to Daisy Baby as we knew for the last eleven years, a baby boutique full of gifts & clothes. We now welcome Everly & Monet, a Children's Design Studio full of fabric samples & wood chips. But more importantly, a comprehensive menu of design services
I remember the night before Daisy Baby & Mommies Too opened its doors for the 1st time -- Andrea's (The original owner & Founder) idea was finally coming to fruition. We would be a cute baby shop that sold adorable clothes with nurseries & childrens furniture. Every gift box would have a yellow duck on top. I had never been a part of building a business from the ground up & I knew this would be a special place. Yet I had no idea how many lives I would touch & how many would affect mine.
I so should have posted this blog before we all gathered around the Thanksgiving table. Below is a photo of my kids Thanksgiving table I posted from Instagram stories. It's nice to review a product I use everyday. I really love the Tripp Trapp High Chair from Stokke. (I actually love A LOT of Stokke stuff) Ever, Ford & Winter still all sit in their chairs everyday. And there is even one for my nephew Elliott when he comes to dine.
Dana knows fabrics, but Dana does not know Cooking! So this is finally my opportunity to get a guest blogger on the Everly & Monet page. So excited to feature another local mom entrepreneur & local author Natasha Rosenstock Nadel. I've known Natasha for years because she is the twin sister of my uber stylist Lani Inlander, who has given several talks in the store. So I am so happy to feature her as my first guest blogger.
Sometimes its just gotta go. Over the years I have collected so much stuff in my warehouse. Be it old floor models, mis-ships or slight dings & chips, I've got it. And for a bargain it can now be yours.
Every year I leave the babies behind & head to Vegas for BIG FUN. Well, if you can call walking a trade show & actually getting 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep fun? But it is exhilarating! I love seeing what is new in the baby world at the ABC show for the Juvenile market. Every stroller, every bottle, every carrier is on display.
I have been in this game so long that I have seen life go full circle. When Mother & Daughter team Andi Weiss & Lauren Malet came in to design her nursery I started having deja vu. For some reason I felt "haven't I done this before?". And OHHH...I had, but it was like 10 years ago & it wasn't cribs, instead we were buying Citizen of Humanity jeans! They used to shop with me when Lauren was in High school at Daisy Too. I can't believe the teenager is now the MOMMY. Wow! It's not everyday you get to be with a family for so long.
Its amazing how you never know what path life is going to take you. I honestly never thought I would be a business owner & mom of 3. When I left California & came to DC 13 years ago I never thought I would stay. I was going to go back to school & get another job in Corporate America. But after hanging out with Andrea Paro & Fabiana Zelaya & seeing all that entrepreneurial life had to offer, GRE prep went out the window. Had I gone back to school I'd probably be A LOT richer & easing my way in the Range Rover crew. But I am loving this independent business owner space. It is a constant work in progress & I'm getting better everyday.
The Everly & Monet brand has really allowed me to dive deeper into aspects of design that I have always wanted to do. Like RUGS. I must admit, I've always been intimidated by rugs. With so many to choose from, where do you start. Offering my clients the right selection, quality, construction & color was critical. So now that I have lovely nice sized samples in the store for people to feel & touch I'm ready to take them on.
As we continue to make this big transition from "Daisy Baby & Kids" to "Everly & Monet," people want to know: "Can we still run in for a Quick Gift?" Uh yeah!! I love putting together the cutest open gift boxes. The more paper sticking out the top & lovie's running over, the BETTER. We listened to out clients & we are stocking our all time best sellers. We love to mix & match based on the price, who it is for & what theme we are building around. Here are just a few of samples of some of our fav's.

In this nursery reveal, we meet the Ungers as they welcome their newborn son Bennett Martin. For his nursery we wanted to go with a very sleek modern style with cool & different elements. It's not everyday I get to choose a lucite crib. The Spot on Square Alto Crib has lucite ends with curved silver legs. So HOT. The Alto collection is complimented by a 3 drawer dresser & bookcase.
Although, I am in the nursery business, I am aware that this is a temporary space. Yes, in less than 3 years you will need to do this all over again. So how much do you need to invest in this space? Even more importantly, how can you invest wisely? Invest in a nursery that can really grow with your child?
I can't believe it is the 3rd year that Big City Moms will be hosting the "BIGGEST BABY SHOWER" here is DC. This time it is going to be right in our own back yard, at The Bindeman Center! This will make it so cool for all of our families to be able to join in the festivities.

I LOVE fabrics. I could play with them all day. At Everly & Monet we create custom bedding sets for our clients' nurseries & big kid rooms. I have hundreds of rings of fabrics. When a client comes in, I help them narrow down all of these wonderful choices & come up with a design that is all their own. Here is a just a sampling of some of my recent work.
My work with families is always a collaboration. Some clients brings me a belly & and an open palate. Others bring me a belly & a detailed pinterest board - then it is my job to bring that pinterest board to life. Either way I love the process. And when working with a creative like Lindy Gallagher the process is a lovely journey.
The phones have been ringing off the hook about Clek this year. People have been intrigued by the unique features this small little Canadian company offers. That is why this is such a great time to take advantage of this limited time sale on their BOOSTER SEATS.

I am sincerely saddened when a another store closes. Especially the ones owned by other small business folks who had an idea & just ran with it. I feel their pain. Our worst nightmare is "Going out of Business." And that nightmare includes all the people who are left behind.
But from the moment I stepped off the plane, I realized Bermuda a dream for a baby designer. Here is just a small samplings of how this Pastel Paradise has inspired me.
When our 1st child was born we lived in a 1 bedroom 675sq condo. So we know about small spaces. Good things babies arrive small. But you really have to be very smart with your space. Its important that you purchase furniture that will be the right scale for your home as well as meeting your needs. Here are some of our favorites.
