The Gracious Gaffneys: Nursery Reveal

My design career started in nurseries. There is something special about helping a couple welcome their 1st child. This often includes converting a space that was once used for an office, a guest room or even eating and turning it into a haven for a child. The love of a good design challenge:) Is what it’s all about for me.

This was a perfect place to welcome Baby Gaffney home.

Before

Creating a design evolves through many different stages. The gift of working with me is that I think about a project from start to finish & all the little things in between. Unlike HGTV it is a longer process with many different steps to get to the final reveal.

The Concept

4k Renderings

Helping clients visualize my design is key to a great collaborative process. Renderings really allow them to see what is in my head. It is also a great tool for me to make sure everything I envision works in the real world. It always amazes me how the images are so realistic. When it is all said & done, I feel like the pictures truly came to life as planned.

The Reveal

After

This nursery is a study about being bold in small spaces. The Gaffneys fell in love with this sophisticated fox wallpaper. They even let me put it on every wall. With the huge built in & large window to break up the paper, I knew the pattern would work without being overwhelming. The wallpaper really set the tone for a rich color palette of layers of greens with lovely earth tones.

The Details

The Personal Touches

Ya’ll know Dana loves a good bookcase. Did you see the size of this one?? I love placing & balancing each piece. It allows me to showcase some of their favorite things they can’t wait to share with the baby. Look close & you’ll see memorabilia from Star Wars, Disney & of course Harry Potter. Did you see the Elder Wand & Quidditch balls?

Vintage Finds, Recreated

Some people love the hunt and finding vintage pieces to mix in. My client found this amazing dresser & had it refinished by Vintage Remedy in Lucketts, Virginia. It really brings an authentic look to the whole room, warming up the space.

I want to thank the Gaffneys for allowing me to be apart of this journey with them. I am so glad you are enjoying the nursery I delivered for your little one. It was my joy.
